ProTek™ Composite Passive Fire Protection to be presented at ADIPEC 2008, Abu Dhabi, November 3-6 2008
Solent Composite Systems Ltd (SCS) manufacturer of ProTek™ passive fire and blast protection systems will exhibit at the 13th ADIPEC Conference and Exhibition in Abu Dhabi November 3-6 2008. SCS will be exhibiting on Stand H8/ 13-14 located in Hall 8, within the UK EIC Pavilion.
In this year the 20th anniversary of the Piper Alpha disaster we are reminded of the need to pay ever greater vigilance to the safety of critical assets and personnel in hazardous areas - ProTek™ delivers the solution to loss prevention with the lowest life cycle cost in the industry.
The SCS ProTek™ PFP system meets all current requirements and standards for jet-fire, pool fire and blast protection. ProTek™ enclosures are typically used for ESDV/actuator protection, and must withstand wind and wave load acceleration movements under extreme climatic conditions. The high insulation properties of the ProTek™system ensures minimum temperature rise, thus providing essential integrity of the equipment functioning without additional insulation. In addition ProTek™ provides sound attenuation up to 38DB to improve health and safety on the plant.
StatoilHydro specified ProTek™ for the Norne FPSO and the Snøhvit LNG plant in Hammerfest. Aker Kvaerner and Hydro selected ProTek™for the blow down valve and accumulator protection at the Ormen Lange processing plant at Nyhamna. The flexible design of the ProTek™system allows penetrations of cables and pipes, without compromising clashes to surrounding equipment. ProTek™ enclosures are designed with low weight removable access panels for easy maintenance and rapid low cost installation, with no hot-work. ProTek™ has a major life-cost advantage over traditionally used soft jacket systems, which tend to deteriorate over time, and thus require higher maintenance and downtime.
ProTek™ is manufactured from an advanced composite panel system which is lightweight and has wide design versatility. Being virtually inert, there is zero corrosion risk and outstanding weather resistance, thus offering a maintenance free life for at least 30 years, with no pollution risk. The fire performance is certified by Lloyds and DNV and will withstand a 1200 degree two hour jet fire test at 0.3 kg /sec gas release, and blast tests up to 1.5 barg.
In addition to ESDV/actuator protection ProTek™ is used for fire and blast walls, marine fire partitions, underdeck/splashzone and flexible riser passive fire protection, offshore modules as well sub-sea structures and encapsulations.SCS expects its composite engineering expertise to be widely utilised in the growing sub-sea gas exploration market and LNG terminals worldwide.
